Welcome to the Zenfolio website of the Comox Valley Photographic Society. This site highlights the skill and expertise of our diverse membership by displaying competition and challenge images and slideshows submitted by our talented participants.

Our membership consists of adults with diverse backgrounds and photographic interests and equipment. We provide educational opportunities targeted at various aspects of the art – from making the image to enhancing it through post-processing.

Scheduled photo outings, or ‘field trips’, provide opportunities to photograph a huge variety of scenes and events with other members, sharing expertise along the way, and often making friends in the process.

We have a community conscience, including a Food Bank drive each fall, photographing the annual Children’s Telethon, photographing other community non-profit events, and providing an annual Bursary to the Photography Program at North Island College.

Meetings are scheduled twice a month – one focusing on an educational topic while the other provides an opportunity for members to participate in photo competitions and challenges. Guest speakers attend to advance our knowledge of the craft periodically, and club business is kept to a minimum.

Social activities comprise a portion of club events and include our annual Christmas Party and a summer event where members gather with their spouses to enjoy good food and great company.

Showcase is held at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox every spring. This is our annual print display, where members’ work is available for viewing by the public in a gallery setting. Regular displays of images are also shown at Rhodos Coffee and Bistro in Courtenay, where our images are featured nearly every month on a rotating basis.

ImageFest, which is members' slideshows set to music, appears on the big screen at the Sid Williams Theatre every spring. This show began in 2011, and has played to a full house every year. It is our major annual event, and is becoming well known in the photographic community.
